Some people say they love New York. Not me. My three favorite cities are all in Asia: Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
Sadly, Hong Kong is being slowly destroyed by Carrie Lam and Xi Jin Shit for Brains.
But as I proved this month – Tokyo survives! And it’s still a thriving and wonderful city.
I LOVE Tokyo! As promised, here are some pictures from my forays into town after I got out of quarantine:
Shinjuku has changed dramatically:

I rode the Yamanote line to Ebisu and was pleasantly surprised to find that one of my old haunts, What the Dickens was still there, albeit with shortened hours. (The last call was at 8 PM).
Roppongi, surprisingly was just dead – at 9 PM on a Saturday! So a lot of the “circuit” is just gone now – especially my favorite little Salsa bar where I chased women back in the day.
I came across a Japanese wedding at the shrine. Unfortunately, this is not an inexpensive thing.
On the return trip, I stopped in Shibuya.
I said hello to my old friend, Hachiko.
Japanese Trains are still a marvelous place for girl-watching. Long skirts must be in fashion this year. 
Sadly, even Tokyo is not immune from the American sickness, COVID denialism. So this was a small but noisy Anti Vaccine protest.
On a later trip, I went back to Shinjuku to see the famous sign – the one where the cat jumps out at you.
The noise you hear in the background is the anti-vax protestors.
And of course, I went to Harajuku. It has changed dramatically too. The station has been rebuilt and is all modern; you can barely tell where the quaint old JR station was:
Throughout the trip, I had great food. Most of the restaurants had redesigned to allow COVID safety protections with plastic dividers at the tables.
One of the most jarring sites I saw was how empty Narita Airport was when it came time to go home. The bus got me there early, so I had time to kill. This is Terminal 2, the home of JAL. It was shocking to see it this empty.
There were not many people, but there were security robots. Welcome to the brave new world. God help us when this thing becomes self-aware……..
Even in this COVID blighted world, Tokyo is still a lively city. It was also refreshing to see most people wearing masks everywhere without complaint. Flight attendants were not getting assaulted on airplanes. Despite its summer spike, The country and the city still had lower case rates than some disgusting US states like Florida. There is a lesson in there for swine like Ron De Santis. He may claim he did well against COVID. The truth is he did not.
Japan shows us that you don’t have to sacrifice grandma for the stock market.

Anyway, it was great to be back in Japan – even with the quarantine.
